A crime writer blames her niece's husband for her death and concocts a plan to take revenge, luring him to her walk-in vault, before locking him in and leaving him to die. She then puts her knowledge of the criminal mind to good use by covering her tracks, and although Columbo strongly suspects foul play, he finds clues are thin on the ground.
