The stoner duo have drifted apart, with Harold cleaning up his act and Kumar continuing his directionless existence. They are reunited during the festive season, and when they burn down Harold's father-in-law's Christmas tree, they head onto the streets of New York on a surreal quest to find the perfect replacement.
