Overview:
Few remember this drama nowadays, but Burt Lancaster only made Gunfight at the OK Corral on condition that he star in it. Based on a Broadway flop, the story is set in Kansas, 1913, with Lancaster as the conman who promises he will bring an end to a serious drought, while also finding time to charm local spinster Katharine Hepburn. Director Joseph Anthony staged the original play and clearly has a reverential ear for dialogue; unfortunately, he has a blind eye when it comes to locations and camerawork. It's worth watching, though, for the visibly edgy teaming of Lancaster and Hepburn.
