Overview:
This wonderful slice of richly-Technicolored magic from Walt Disney in his prime was a follow-up to the short Saludos Amigos - a product of the US "Good Neighbour" policy towards Latin America. Combining live action and animation in a series of fun-filled episodes, it stars Joe Carioca, his friend Panchito and Donald Duck himself, enjoying a musical spree that embraces You Belong to My Heart and the title number, which gives vent to a marvellously creative burst of cartoon energy. There's more wizardry as Donald gets tied up with the soundtrack and falls in love with Carmen Miranda's sister Aurora amid a welter of incredible animated choreography. Bear with the coy opening scenes because this is a real treat that deserves to be better known.
