"The epic story that was destined to stand as a colossus of adventure!"
- Director: Don Chaffey
- Genre: Action & Adventure, Kids & Family, Classics, Science Fiction & Fantasy,
- Studio: Morningside Productions
- Subtitled | Duration: 110 Mins
Overview:
In this lively adventure based on the Greek myth, our hero (a wooden Todd Armstrong) sails in search of the Golden Fleece, encountering gods, demons and Honor Blackman playing chess with the destiny of men. Made while Hollywood was plundering Roman history at vast expense, this British picture went further back in time and created a niche of its own. Special-effects epics, masterminded by Ray Harryhausen - here featuring sword-wielding skeletons and a giant man of bronze - thrilled adults as well as children who were too young for Hammer horrors and Japanese monster movies. The tepid colour is a drawback, the stirring music by Bernard Herrmann a distinct plus.
